  • A massive 88% stated they preferred to receive communications by email, with face to face the second highest method at 28%
  • 60% thought the Unibuddy app was excellent or good, as an opportunity to meet and connect with others moving into halls

What do the results tell us?

  • We need to look at ensuring all of you arriving receive a similar welcome - providing you with the same information regardless of when you arrive to check in
  • We should continue working hard to prepare rooms, complete maintenance and maintain and improve the high standards already in place to ensure rooms and for January work with existing residents to ensure kitchens are presentable for you when you arrive
  • You'd like to have more staff around / available to help you with directions and general queries
  • You'd like to receive more comprehensive arrival instructions which act as a one stop shop for all information related to moving into halls, communication channels and directions
  • You'd like the welcome events to be more coordinated by all parts of the University and clarification on which events you 'should' attend and which are not as important
  • You'd like more opportunities to meet your flatmates / hallmates pre and post arrival through events and activities

What did you say?

'I am very happy with my welcome experience. The residential staff were very kind and made moving from home a little lighter on the heart. I am grateful'
'Have more signs indicating what is where'
'Be able to know our flatmates ahead of time'
'I think more information conveyed before getting here would make it helpful'
'Have someone show people where their hall is, where the room is, where the laundry room is, explain what the rules of the house are, and have more information in general about the house where one is staying'

Remember, you don't have to wait for a survey to give us feedback, you can give this in person at Residences Reception or the Reception in your building, at a Residential Life event, to a staff member face to face or via email. All of the opportunities are also shown in the How can I give feedback to Residential Services article.
