Welcome back to free fun in London QM explorers!
This April, we’re bringing you the best free activities to enjoy. With the cold weather hopefully behind us and the Easter holidays just around the corner, there’s even more reason to get out and explore. Let’s dive into this month’s lineup!
Art & culture
- Fixing our broken planet at Natural history museum is a new permanent exhibition that explores practical, nature-based solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing the planet today. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn about the impact humans have on the natural world and discover how we can all contribute to creating a more sustainable future.
Outdoor activities
- With 195 years of rivalry and counting, The Boat Race has become synonymous with British tradition and excellence. The famous Oxford vs Cambridge race will take place on Sunday 13 April. Follow the race from Putney Bridge to Chiswick Bridge.
- The Big Egg Hunt around London. Join the fun in this city-wide hunt featuring over 100 giant Easter eggs, each designed by leading artists and designers. Use the official app to track down the eggs. Eggs will be hidden in iconic spots like Buckingham Palace, Covent Garden, Chelsea, Canary Wharf, Marble Arch, Battersea Power Station, The Barbican, The British Museum, and The Royal Albert Hall.
Special events
- St George’s Day festival Celebrate England’s patron saint with a day of festivities, including parades, performances, and traditional English food. Taking place on Trafalgar Square on 21 April.
- London marathon on 27 April is set to make history as the world’s largest field in the discipline. Cheer on the runners as they race through the streets of London in this iconic marathon. It’s a great way to support the participants and enjoy the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
Hidden gems
- Visit the second biggest Conservatory in London and explore a truly hidden tropical oasis at the Barbican. Tickets for the Conservatory are free, and a limited number get released a month in advance online.
London truly comes alive when the sun is out, so don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy it! Whether you’re having a picnic in Victoria Park or exploring the South Bank the vibrant atmosphere is something you don’t want to miss.
