Prayer and Contemplation rooms🧎‍♂️

With over 25,000 staff and students on our campuses, we are proud to celebrate diversity and are committed to encouraging religious understanding, freedom of speech, and open social interaction. Our faith facilities are places where people of different faiths can meet.

Multi-Faith Centre

Situated in the SU Hub at Mile End Campus, the Multi-Faith Centre is designed as a place of prayer, worship and reflection for all faiths and beliefs. It has two large rooms, which are assigned to individual faith groups at different times, and adjacent washing facilities.

Smaller contemplation rooms are also available on the ground floor of the Mile End Library. Groups and individuals cannot book these rooms, but they are available throughout the library's opening hours.

The Whitechapel campus also has a Multi-Faith room for staff and students, located in the Garrod Building on the 3rd floor. This space is open all week from 8am - 10pm.

Provisions of space for Friday prayers

We recognise the importance of Friday prayers to a significant proportion of our community and are committed to using all reasonable endeavours to provide a place on campus for students and staff to meet for Friday prayers. These take place in the Nest and the Multi-Faith Centre.

Chaplaincy Services ⛪️

St. Benet's is our Christian Chaplaincy located on Mile End Campus. The Church of England owns it, and it's open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm during term time.

The Chapel hosts regular prayer and worship services, and the lounge offers other activities. It's available to students and staff of all faiths and none. They support everyone in any way they can and engage with the spiritual aspects of university life.
